Create a vehicle profile

This chapter describes the creation of a vehicle profile with its settings.

To create a new vehicle profile, click on the drop-down icon of the <New Vehicle> button in the “Vehicles” module. A list of standard vehicle profiles then opens that you can use as a template for your new profile.

If you click the <New Vehicle> button instead, a new profile is created based on a 40T truck.

The page for a new vehicle profile is now displayed. Here you can now make the different settings for the profile. If you have selected a profile as a template, some of the settings are already filled with the values of the template.

In the “General” area you assign

  • a name for your vehicle profile in the “Vehicle name” field (you can of course change the name of the template copy)

  • In the “License plate” field, the license plate of the vehicle if you want to assign individual profiles for each vehicle instead of generic vehicle profiles.

In the “Motorization” area you determine the following:

  • Engine type
    Is the vehicle a combustion, electrical or hybrid model?

  • Emission class
    Select the emission class (euro standard) for the vehicle via the dropdown button. This setting is relevant for the admissibility of the vehicle in low-emission zones.

  • CO2 emission class
    Select the CO2 emission class via the dropdown button. This is relevant for the calculation of toll costs.

    Note: CO2 emission class 5 is only available for electric vehicles. This class is grayed out for combustion or hybrid vehicles - it is automatically selected for electric vehicles.

  • Type of drive
    Is the fuel used diesel, gasoline, natural gas (CNG) or liquid gas (LNG)?

  • Biofuel ratio
    Determine the proportion of biofuels for the vehicle via the slider.

  • Average fuel consumption
    You can specify the average fuel consumption of the vehicle in this field via manual input or the +/- switch .

In the “Costs” area, you can connect the vehicle profile to an existing cost profile (see “Costs").

As soon as you have selected a cost profile, the values of this profile will be displayed.

You cannot change the settings for the cost profile at this point - if this is necessary, you can go to the module for cost planning via the <siehe in Kosten> button.

Note: By saving the vehicle profile, the cost profile selected here is assigned to the vehicle profile by default. It is therefore used by default when this vehicle profile is selected during route planning.

As part of a route planning, you can also choose a different cost profile as an individual case - via the € symbol in the header area of the stop list.

However, the cost profile assigned to the vehicle profile via the vehicle administration remains assigned as a standard.

For the cost profile selected in route planning, a tooltip shows the route costs per kilometer, the route costs per hour and the fixed route costs per trip.

In the “Price models” section, select the price model you want to link to this vehicle.

In the “Dimensions” area, you can enter the height, length, width and weight.

This information is relevant for the evaluation of road and passage restrictions when calculating the route. The “Technically permitted weight” property can also be used for the calculation of toll costs (e.g. in Austria).
Note: None of the values in the dimensions may be set to “0”. If you do this, the previously set value will be restored as soon as you exit the vehicle settings form.

In the “Route Options” section, you can set a custom calculation mode and a maximum speed for the vehicle.

You can either use the default settings or configure your own settings.

  • The "Route preference" setting allows you to specify the weighting given to distance versus journey time when calculating a route.

    Note: Bear in mind that placing too much emphasis on the journey distance can lead to unsuitable results (cumbersome route guidance). Therefore, this value should not be set below 30% where possible.

  • Use the “Maximum speed of this vehicle” parameter to set the maximum speed to be used when calculating a route with this vehicle.

  • The "Speed settings" table lists the maximum speed limits applicable to this type of vehicle for different road types. These values are taken from the standard profiles and cannot be changed.

    Note: The value for "Maximum speed of this vehicle" cannot be set higher than the maximum speed for motorways specified in the standard profile in the table.

  • Using the parameter group “Routing preferences per road type”, you can specify for each individual road type how heavily it should be weighted in route calculations for this vehicle. In addition to the normal mode, an advanced mode is also available.

    • In normal mode, you can assign each road type a priority level: “Prefer”, “Neutral”, “Avoid”, “Strongly avoid”, or “Block.”

    • In advanced mode, you can set this weighting in even greater detail using a numerical value and a slider.

    Note:

    The settings for these parameters override the general routing options “Avoid toll Roads”, “Avoid highways”, “Cost-optimized routing”, and “Shortest route.”

In the “Electronic toll subscriptions” section, you can specify the toll devices your vehicle is equipped with.This setting can affect the toll calculation for the route, as some subscription tolls differ in price from one-off payments.

In the “Low-emission zones” section, you can specify which environmental badge(s) your vehicle is equipped with.

This setting can affect route planning, since urban environmental zones may have to be bypassed.

In the „Low-emission zone exemptions“ section, you can specify certain low-emission zones where the vehicle is permitted to make stops even if it does not have the required environmental sticker(s).

As soon as you have made all the desired settings, confirm it by clicking on the <Save and close> button in the upper left window area.

The creation of the vehicle profile is thus successfully completed.
